hari ini tengah hari
saat aku makan siang di warung lesehan
di tengah sekumpulan pengamen jalanan
kulihat seorang pengamen gemuk bertelanjang dada
menyebut dirinya siddhartha
dari negeri sungai gangga
duduk bersila gitar di pangkuan
sekonyong konyong ia berseru :
'kebenaran adalah jalan tengah
di antara dua kutub ekstrim
seperti tali kolor, eh tali senar gitar ini
kalau tali senar terlalu tegang, akan putus
tapi kalau tali senar terlalu kendor
kolor merosot, eh gitar tak berbunyi !
jalan tengah. jalan tengah, saudaraku '
usai berkata dimainkannya gitarnya
suaranya jernih merdu
sejuk menyiram kering sukmaku

( just an imagination)
today at midday
as i was having lunch at a local food stall by the street
among a crowd of street musicians
i saw a fat and bare-chested street musician
he called himself siddhartha
from the land of the river gangas
he was sitting quietly a guitar on his lap
all of a sudden he shouted :
'the truth is the middle way
between extreem opposites
like the string of this guitar
if stretched too much it will snap
but if too slacked it will not play !
the middle way, the middle way, my brother '
so said he strummed his guitar
the most beautiful sound i have ever heard
it soothed and nurtured my barren soul
